How to Survive in Creatures of Sonaria

Hunger, disasters, and players who will bite a juvenile because the server culture says so.

How to Survive

Creatures of Sonaria is a survival game that happens to have a gacha. The map will starve you, dehydrate you, burn you, drown you, or feed you to a stranger who considers KoS a sport. This page is the defensive half of the wiki. Offensive picks live on the PvP tier list. Growth that assumes you already lived is on how to grow. If you cannot find water yet, start at getting started and the controls table.

Bars that kill you before a bite does

Hunger and thirst are the silent wipes. Sniff (H) every time you enter a new biome. Drink even when the bar is “fine”; satiation feeds growth and keeps you from panic-sprinting into a grab. Diet mistakes look like a broken game: a carnivore sniffing flowers, a photovore diving a cave with no light, an aquatic beaching for a plant that does not exist. Use the diet checklist before you blame the spawn.

Stamina is the escape bar. Sprint and takeoff cost it. Breath attacks cost it and can damage you if you dump the meter. Oxygen and moisture exist for species that leave their home element. If you main a flier, stamina management is survival, not style.

Health is obvious until you lay down. Sitting and laying multiply incoming damage (community figures sit around 1.25× and 1.5×) and block your bite. Heal standing if the region is populated. T is not a safe-AFK key in a public server.

Weather, seasons, and disasters

Sonaria rotates weather and events that ignore your paint job. Tornadoes, meteors, lava, and earthquakes show up in AFK stories because they delete unattended slots. Anti-weather script features exist on the scripts hub; this page assumes you are playing the map the designers shipped.

  • Leave ridges when the sky turns. Fliers can outrun some ground disasters and still get shredded by wing-shredder users waiting in the cloud.
  • Volcano floors telegraph. Small species dart; huge species do not. If you farm floating Shooms after meteors, accept the risk or pick a covered ocean pocket instead.
  • Water is safety for aquatics and a trap for land tanks. Ambush-into-water is a PvP trick, not a juvenile plan.

Event weeks such as Summer Paradise add extra reasons to stand in the open. Take the mission, then leave.

Other players

Assume hostility. Diet does not mark friend. A herbivore can KoS. Groups exist and so do fake groups. Hide scent (N) when you are growing or nesting. A nest icon is a map ping for griefers; place it off the highway.

If you want to fight back, learn weight. Heavier species win bite trades against lighter ones unless mobility or ailments say otherwise. Do not take a teen into a Korathos argument. Run, terrain-clip with the species kit, or menu out before the grab lands. Grab plus wing shredder is how fliers stop being fliers.

Carcass pickup (Y) is food and also a lure. Carrying meat through a populated field is a dinner bell.

A survival loadout that is not a tier-list copypaste

Pick a body from starter creatures whose mobility matches the biome you actually like. Land herbivore for forests. Aquatic for the basin. Flier only after you can take off without slamming a tree. Equip a plushie that helps the death you keep having: growth if you never adult, defensive if you get grabbed, nothing if you cannot afford one yet. Items and plushies lists effects without pretending a plushie is armor plating.

Keep a Partial Growth Token from codes for a slot you have already proven you can feed. Tokens will not save a player who never sniffs.

Survival is the skill that makes every other page cheaper. Shooms tick, mutations roll, and Trade Realm prices make sense only if the creature is still in storage. When a session goes bad, change region before you change your entire roster. The map is large on purpose. Use it.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers players ask after a wipe, a death, or a new event.

Why do I keep dying with food on the map?

Wrong diet or no sniff. Press H and match the pile to the [diet checklist](/tools/diet-checklist/). Carnivores cannot live on flowers.

Is laying down a good way to hide?

No. You take more damage and cannot bite. Hide with scent off and terrain, not with T in public.

How do I survive KoS as a new player?

Play small, hide scent, avoid nest highways, and leave fights you cannot weight-check. Grow first; the PvP list can wait.
